CHIROPRACTIC CARE

Chiropractic care is a fantastic way to optimise your body's natural ability to adapt and heal. The adjustment is not a specific treatment for any symptom or disease but rather improves nervous system function by restoring better motion and/or alignment to the spinal joints. This is often achieved by applying a specific and precise force in the right direction and at the right time on your spine. At Fountain of Health we provide manual as well as gentle instrument assisted techniques. These include Diversified, Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT), Activator, Upper Cervical and ABC technique (Advanced Biostructural Correction™)

For infants and young children we apply still gentler cranial release/touch and hold style adjustments, We will listen to your needs and work out what is best for your care plan.

CUPPING & SCRAPING

Cupping and scraping relaxes muscle tension and promotes healing into the area of application. Both treatment work by increasing blood flow while flushing out stagnant blood and all the waste it carries. Cupping involves placement of suction cups on acupressure points, essentially sucking up the skin. Scraping involves stroking a smooth tool repeatedly across specific areas of the skin. The red marks from both cupping and scraping usually fade within a day or two.

TRIGGER POINT
& DRY NEEDLING

Trigger point therapy is a form of manual therapy that focuses on detecting and releasing knots located in muscle and fascia. For instance, when the muscle at the top of your shoulder (trapezius) has a trigger point that can refer pain up the side of your neck and head causing a headache. These triggered taut bands can also cause dysfunction of the associated joints. Treatment generally involves specifically applied deep pressure into the affected areas.

Dry needling uses fine acupuncture needles to target active trigger points within muscles. The treatment only lasts 10-15 seconds and can immediately restore muscle function, movement and relieve local and referred pain. Dry needling also influences nerve pathways in the spinal cord and brain. Through these nerve pathways, dry needling can act to ‘reboot’ muscle activation that has been lost to pain or injury.
